OF DUNSANY, PAPER, AND TRADITION

Here at Pegana Press I cut all of the paper by hand for our books. A time-consuming process but essential when using laid papers with watermarks and deckle edges. I am using Hahnemuhle Ingres paper for the new Lord Dunsany book, as I have with all the other Lost Tales Editions. The paper has a lot of texture to it, which makes for challenging print work, but the paper feels really good and has a tactile quality that is quite unique when handling. I cut the paper so the Rooster watermark is in the bottom corner of the page in our Lost Tales books. I also leave a deckle edge to the bottom of the page.

Hahnemuhle has been making paper since 1584 and was used by Salvadore Dali for his artworks and Pablo Picasso for his Lithographs, so there is a lot of history in the books you may hold from Pegana Press! It seems fitting to use paper with this kind of lineage for the work of Lord Dunsany; his unbroken lineage and reverence for tradition being manifest in his writings.

Printing work continues on the new book; As with all of the Lost Tales Dunsany Editions, the new book will contain several unpublished, rare stories from the Dunsany Castle Archives.
